The Writing Center
At the Writing Center you can get support for your writing and work on taking next steps with your assignment. You can work with a tutor in-person or online. There is a limited amount of email appointments as well. Tutors are respectful and friendly. You are welcome to come at any stage of writing: we can help you develop a draft or, if you do not have writing yet, we can help you get started. You can work on any writing, not only for English. Many students come to work on personal statements and assignments for different majors.
In-person and Online appointments are great for back-and-forth discussion. Together you will decide on priorities and work on making changes or getting started. Both you and the tutor contribute to the session. You can drop by 105 Grant Hall and we’ll help you make an appointment.
Before using Email tutoring, we recommend you meet with a tutor first through an In-person or Online session to learn more about our tutoring. For Email tutoring, tutors comment on 3 double-spaced pages. When you make an appointment, you would need to provide background on your assignment and priorities. Tutors describe strengths and offer suggestions for improvement.
You can Make 3 Appointments per Week Some students meet with different tutors to get a variety of perspectives. Others follow up with a tutor familiar with their work. Either way, we are happy to see you often!
